Carlisle Area Roofs Damaged in Hail Strom

Missing the anniversary of last years hail storm by just 2 days, May 26, 2011 delivered another surge in hail damaged roofs in the Carlisle, Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg Pa. area.

Carlisle Hail Storm

Carlisle Hail Storm

The storm knocked down many large trees throughout the Carlisle, Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg swath. Front St. in Harrisburg, just north of the Governor’s  mansion lost more than a dozen grand old trees.

Carlisle suffered the loss of trees along several prominent streets and all around the Borough.

Premier Siding and Roofing was still doing repairs from last years hail storm when this next round blew through.

Hail damaged roofs need to be inspected. The strike marks from hail can be very hard to detect now, but in 3-4 years when the shingles are shot or leaking you will feel the impact.

Ice Dams

With the winter we’ve been having here in the Harrisburg area, ice dams have created more than a few leaks.

Here’s some more information.

UNDATED (WJRT) — (02/12/11) — All that snow and ice we’ve received over the past two weeks is now starting to thaw this weekend, and roofers couldn’t be happier.

As the ice thaws, more than a few roofs are sure to leak. And while the ice may look pretty, but it can be a sign of trouble in your house.

“Biggest problem is what we call ice dams,” said Tulsa home inspector Bob Hale.

Ice dams can happen when the ice thaws on your warming roof. Read more.

Harrisburg Roofing Contractor in Hell

harrisburg roofing contractorA Harrisburg roofer (who shall remain nameless) dies and reports to the pearly gates. St. Peter checks his dossier and says, “Ah sorry, you’re in the wrong place.”

So the Harrisburg roofing contractor reports to the gates of hell and they let him in.

Pretty soon, the roofer gets dissatisfied with the leaking roof and starts making improvements.

After a while, the roof is fixed and he’s a pretty handy guy and before long they’ve got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the roofer is a pretty popular guy.

One day God calls Satan on the phone and says, “So, how’s it going down there in hell?”

Satan replies, “Hey, things are going great. We’ve got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there’s no telling what this Harrisburg roofing contractor is going to come up with next.”

God replies, “What??? You’ve got a roofer? That’s a mistake! He should never have gotten down there; send him up here.” Satan says, “No way. I like having a roofing contractor on the staff, and I’m keeping him.”

God says, “Send him back up here or I’ll sue.”

Satan laughs uproariously and answers, “Yeah, right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?”

Harrisburg Roofing Contractor: Winter Roofing

Harrisburg Roofing Contractor: Hiring The Best

Homeowners in the Harrisburg area are often wondering if they can replace a roof during the winter season.

While it’s usually better to put on your new roof in the summer. Espicially asphalt shingle, metal isn’t as affected by the Pa. winter. Your new roof applied during winter or during summer the job is more or less the same.

A good residential roofing contractor can help you get the job done right. But I don’t know any contractors who actually prefer doing their roofing jobs during the winter months.

Obviously, the first factor that a residential roofing contractor needs to address is how to overcome the winter cold.

Cold weather does not seem to bother many good Harrisburg residential roofing contractors. If needed the residential roofing contractor and his crew can clear a roof pretty fast.

A qualified roofing contractor working during the winter time can spot the leaks in the roof which are often caused by of ice dams.

However, a good residential roofing contractor can fix this problem and in conjunction with the proper installation of drip-edge flashing will help overcome the problem of ice dams forming.

Though paying a roofing contractor to high of a price is not something that any homeowner relishes doing, not paying enough can be much worse.

Don’t choose your roofing contractor solely on the basis of the lowest price, as cheap as it may be. The best value is usually not the cheapest option.

Compare materials to be used, check references and negotiate.

Choosing the wrong Harrisburg roofing contractor can do damage to your home and what might have seemed like a deal can turn out to be a very costly mistake in the end. Choosing Harrisburgs Best Roofer is the way to go.
